About Us

Floorball is a fast-paced indoor hockey game using lightweight sticks and a hollow ball, initially created in Sweden and now popular worldwide with international tournaments and a future sport of the Olympics.  It has been played in Christchurch informally since 2013, as popularity for the sport grew the Christchurch Quake Floorball Club was formed and became an Incorporated Society in October 2016. In 2021 Canterbury Floorball was established to incorporate the original Christchurch Club and a new Selwyn Floorball Club with the view to extend our offering of Floorball further across Canterbury.

In New Zealand, Floorball was initially played in Wellington and has now extended across the country under the supervision of Floorball New Zealand and includes national and international tournaments and competitions.   Our clubs regularly represents Canterbury in National Tournaments and has players that represent New Zealand in the National team.

The purpose of Canterbury Floorball is to get people moving and to be active, to introduce and promote floorball in the Canterbury region and to establish a floorball academy within the community. We want Cantabrians to get involved and be part of the world’s fastest growing sport. We are committed to the provision of safe social and competitive opportunities for all members. Our aim is to provide all members with fair competition, access to high standard facilities, gear and training.

Meet the team, these just some of the faces that help to keep our clubs running.
